The Story of the Feast of Tishri

The origin of the Feast of Tishri is described in the book of Leviticus where it is said that the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying that on the fifteenth day of the month of Tishri of the Hebrew civil calendar, "ye shall have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the Lord." The Feast of Tishri is the Hebrew equivalent of Thanksgiving or Harvest festival. The origins and significance of the Feast of Tishri make it the most Scottish Rite of festivals. No other occasion epitomizes the character and purpose of the Feast of Tishri more wholly than the dedication of King Solomon’s Temple. The rich legendry of the Temple’s dedication, celebrated during the Feast of Tishri, is an essential part of the Fourteenth Degree. By observing the Feast of Tishri, Scottish Rite Masons share the fraternal spirit and reaffirm our dedication to human concord and the brotherhood of all men. As Brothers, we resolve to build, as King Solomon did, peace for all mankind.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Welcome to the Lincoln Scottish Rite Website

The Lincoln Scottish Rite Temple was constructed in 1916 and part of 1917 by Olson Construction Company from designs by Berlinghof and Davis, at a cost of approximately $80,000. The building was dedicated and occupied on February 22, 1917. The low rear (east) wing was added by Olson in 1923 at a cost of about $12,000, after designs by Davis and Wilson.

The Scottish Rite Temple “represents a distinctive architectural style or innovation” as one of Lincoln’s best and most ornate Neo-Classical Revival structures, in addition to being “the work of a craftsman whose individual work is significant” in the development of the city, through its design by Berlinghof and Davis.

Lincoln Valley Scottish Rite was chartered February 1, 1885.

The Valley maintains the principles of the Scottish Rite by holding two impressive Reunions (initiation of new members) each year with ethical and moral lessons. Other goals established were to offer more social programs . Today we go to the Lied Center, hold a Robert Burns Dinner and wine tastings.

Public availablity include the opportunities for rental by other non-profit organizations and individuals for use of the theater for plays or ceremoies and the ballroom for dinners or receptions.

Our address is 332 Centennial Mall South, one block north of the Nebrask State Capital. The building is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Please stop in to see us.
